I already got two potential Christmas presents early:
http://hackadaycom.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/apple-tv-2.jpg
(lovin' it something fierce!)
and
http://www.coffee-maker-review.net/images/keurig-elite-b40-21241758.jpg
Would love to have this:
http://www.devicemag.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/macbook-air-11.6-inch1.jpg
or this:
http://regmedia.co.uk/2010/01/27/ipad_rgb.jpg
But since my budget nowadays says "oh hells to the naw", I'll probably have to settle for this:
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmDaaCTXjbdIF0yswqOTR_HpixbFASJftU5QHD0bvB8gTgr9FkQbLikKYLJ0WtF1RgPm_Kq70DZwUH6MTER_72acMo0m_KSxvNY5oMtFKycJddHDZeHyb_js4pu5tbIgyKQXj4Ua1Ba2si/s1600/hojoboxset.jpg
It's the 3-CD box set of Howard Jones's first two albums, being released soon on his Dtox label. Warner/Elektra gave Howard and his keyboard tech Robbie Bronnimann access to the original master tapes, and they've digitally remastered the albums with reportedly much better sound quality than the original CD issues. The third bonus disc, named after his rare "Risk" singles, contains live tracks from early performances.

All those fruits look so ripe and unflawed! I wish I could buy fruits that looked that delectable. Instead, I get raspberries with the occasional black spot and kumquats that look more like little limes than little oranges... :D

What a freaking RIP-OFF. You could buy 20 new songs a year for that instead (well not on Apple anymore sine they royally screwed everyone on some BS basis of "85 cents songs" to offset the "$1.29" ones except that as most of us predicted, there are hardly any 85 cents songs in existence yet a heck of lot of $1.29 ones. In other words, all they did was jack up prices to cover crap artists who can't sing and don't write their own songs and make farting noises and call it art.)
Meanwhile, what good would this service do? Do you seriously think they're going to let you access your music that you did NOT buy from iTunes??? (i.e. your CD collection dumped to iTunes) NO WAY. You'd have to UPLOAD the entire library first. How LONG would that take? Ridiculous. Then you miss a payment and they delete it all.... It's far more likely it's only for songs you already bought (in which case you could already just 'buy' them again and download them for free; in other words the service is worthless).
What most people would prefer I think is a flat fee music-on-demand service where you can listen to ANY music you want from the entire library. Pandora, Sonus, etc. already offer this service so Apple's "retrieve your own library online" is stupid, IMO. You could rent some storage somewhere and just upload your music there and download it anywhere on the Net WITHOUT APPLE even being involved. The whole thing strikes me as a cash grab from Apple to make you pay for the music you already paid for ALL OVER AGAIN. Bought 100 songs? 5 years you bought 'em again. No value.
My entire music library is only 70GB in AAC without music videos. That would almost fit on an iPod Touch 64GB or USB 64GB stick as it is, let alone my Netbook which has 160GB on it and my MBP which has 500GB. So the ONLY way this service could be useful is if I could access ALL MY MOVIES from anywhere on the Net. That would require 2.6TB of storage, though. I don't see Apple covering that and I wouldn't even want to TRY to upload all those movies from my own library (and Apple doesn't even sell (let alone in good quality) 40% of them and 95% of the HD ones.
No, a flat fee for unlimited rentals (music and movies) would be a good deal. I don't see Apple offering that any time soon, if EVER.

Apple's new release timeframe has zero to do with phone upgrade eligibility. Thus BS. And I bet AT&T call center people are so tired of Apple owners they probably make shite up just to mess with their minds and they sit around the lunchroom telling the stories. :p

Well to be honest I was referring to the windows version of Word. I use Office 2003 on Windows and Office 2004 for Mac. I am not sure if the Mac version of word has the same plug-ins.
On the windows version. Go to file -> new and select the publishing tab. From there select Brochure. It will fire up the wizard and template if you have these options loaded.
Got it - thanks (I use Win Office 2003 only a couple of times a year these days, so am somewhat rusty).

That's not entirely true. The Xbox 360 doesn't play HD-DVDs, but it does upscale standard dvds to 720p. http://www.avforums.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-256882.html
Better link:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/xbox360/physics.htm
The OP statement was that the 360 was the only HD player on the market right now. Which clearly isn't true. Upscaling isn't HD in my book. But that is me.

Apple didn't update the form factors was to ease people into Intel. Apple had to convince upgraders that they were still using a Mac, and that the inside was the only thing that changed (for the better). Now that Gen 1 Intel is complete Apple can update the form factors as they have proved Macs will always be Macs.
I agree completely.
None of the mac products significanly changed form factor even though the "innards" changed significantly.
This year should be the year we see major style changes. The old line is getting seriously stale.

I'm always amazed by the amount of abuse the human body can withstand. How is she not already dead? How is it that her bones don't break under the load? Astonishing, really.

Right, so with the bigger screen size, Apple has either:
1) Dropped retina-display.
2) Decided on a new resolution that developers will have to adhere to, given that DVGA (double VGA) has been in use for a year and HVGA was in use for 4 years (3 exclusively).
Yeah, I'm not buying in to either
EDIT: I did not read the OP, I'm a moron. Still, bigger display, same res? Pretty lame... Apple just didn't 'future proof' when they chose DVGA.

Boo! I didn't know it "required" a connection between the GPU and PCIe. I don't see the reasoning behind a direct connection to the GPU, anyone (not an engineer here)? I also agree, that for the sake of data connectivity, a PCIe card would be a realistic expectation. I certainly wouldn't be bothered with another connection, especially if that connection would eventually be the primary connection to my external devices ("Light Peak"/"ThunderBolt" does allow for daisy chaining?).
Because it uses mDP for the connection. It would be confusing to users to have a data only port that looks like their video port (of course this really only affect Macs since most PC's come with DVI/HDMI...)

Dude that's hilarious. Here's the difference between Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen. When Mel Gibson has a meltdown, he turns into a racist a-hole. When Charlie Sheen has a meltdown, he sounds like he just high.

(CBS/AP) Osama bin Laden, the long-time figurehead of the al Qaeda terrorist network, has been buried at sea after being killed in a U.S. raid in Pakistan.
U.S. officials told CBS News that bin Laden's body would be handled in accordance with Muslim traditions, which include strict rules on burial taking place within 24 hours after death.
Bin Laden was a Saudi national, but officials tell CBS News that the Kingdom was unwilling to have his remains repatriated.http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/05/02/501364/main20058795.shtml

AppleTalk: Who uses it, and why?
I'm pretty sure that any time you use Personal file sharing, you are using AppleTalk.
EDIT: More info... Personal File Sharing is based off of Apple Filing Protocol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Filing_Protocol). From wikipedia:
AFP versions 3.0 and greater rely exclusively on TCP/IP (port 548 or 427) for establishing communication, supporting AppleTalk only as a service discovery protocol. The AFP 2.x family supports both TCP/IP and AppleTalk for communication and service discovery. Many third-party AFP implementations use AFP 2.x, thereby supporting AppleTalk as a connection method. Still earlier versions rely exclusively on AppleTalk. For this reason, some older literature refers to AFP as "AppleTalk Filing Protocol". Other literature may refer to AFP as "AppleShare," the name of the Mac OS 9 (and earlier) AFP client.
